Inauguration of Lhayual Water Project, Sarpang

On January 18th, 2024, a significant event unfolded in Lhayul, Chudzom gewog, Sarpang Dzongkhag, as the Lhayul Water Project was inaugurated under the auspices of the Royal Government of Bhutan (RGoB) and De-suung National Service.

This vital initiative, aimed at enhancing the community’s water infrastructure, spans a transmission length of 22.10 km and a distribution length of 9.20 km. It stands as a testament to the commitment of the government towards the welfare of its citizens. The project is poised to benefit eight villages, including a Basic Health Unit (BHU) and a local school, with a total population of 1337 and 156 households.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Lam Neten of Sarpang Dzongkhag along with the official from Sarpang Dzongkhag Administrations, De-suung Office, Royal Bhutan Army (RBA), Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MOIT), Gewog Administration, and the enthusiastic participation of the local community.

This collaborative effort not only symbolizes the completion of a crucial project but also marks the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of the people of Chudzom gewog. As water flows into homes, it brings with the promise of improved health, education, and overall well-being, creating a more sustainable and resilient future for this vibrant community.

This is the 4th water project executed at Sarpang Dzongkhag. 70 Desuups will complete the project over a span of 6 months.
