The project, which is estimated to cost more than Nu. 7.00 million, will involve the construction of a 1.7-kilometer high-density polyethylene pipeline as a conveyance from the intake weir, as well as an internal distribution system within the command area. The irrigation scheme will irrigate over 50 acres of dryland and over 10 acres of wetland, benefiting the livelihoods of 8 households and 16 other Thram-holders.
Umling Dungkhag will support the execution of the project on a day-to-day basis, with Ministry of Agriculture and Forests providing technical support.
The irrigation scheme will be handed over to the Gewog and the beneficiary community once it is completed, and the users will be responsible for its operation and maintenance. Several irrigation projects supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests are in the pipeline, with the aim of launching them after the monsoon season in coordination with the Local Governments.
